Chiropractic Care – What to Expect

Expect to receive good service and a really good adjustment. We’ve been in business for a lot of years and have developed a really good system. We have a massage therapist in the building to help work out those painful muscles. There’s teeth whitening, facials, and restorative services to help you look younger and feel better about yourself. Our partnership with Radiant Skin Med Spa has really taken our services to a new level.

Laying the foundation for total health

In some ways, one could say that chiropractic care is a bit like building a house. Certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work together. When building a house, you would need a solid foundation before putting up walls. If you tried to build your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into problems as well. These concepts apply to your body as well. Chiropractic care addresses many common reasons why people experience pain and other health issues.

When something is not right with your body’s foundation, that base is the first thing to address. With chiropractic care, your body needs to go through a particular plan of care in order to fix that foundation. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

Phase 1: Relief Care

Assuming you have pain when you come into the office, the first objective is to reduce pain as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition, it can take 2-4 weeks at 2-3 visits per week. You can expect that the pain will diminish fairly soon but that’s not a reason to quit care.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely. This helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It’s typical to need chiropractic adjustments about 1-2 times per week for 1-2 months. That is dependent on your overall health and the severity of your problem. For older adults who have arthritic or degenerative changes, it can take longer. I’ve heard to expect care 1 month for every year that the condition has been present.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once you are no longer experiencing symptoms, it’s important to come in for periodic chiropractic tune-up to prevent future problems. Usually this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1- 2 times per month, initially. The time between visits can then be stretched out until you get to 1 time per quarter. This will depend on your lifestyle and goals.
